Elections & Registrations

The Board of Elections & Registrations is responsible for conducting all statewide, countywide, and municipal elections held in the county. 

Beginning January 2023, board meetings are held  every other month on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 4:30 pm located in the voter registration office. Meeting dates and times are subject to change. Please contact the office for specific meeting dates and times. Meeting are open to the public.

NOTICE: Elections Board meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled

The regular scheduled Elections Board Meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled. It has been rescheduled for Monday March 11, 2024 @ 4:30 pm.

  • Absentee voting by mail begins 45 days prior to a statewide, countywide, or federal general election and whenever ballots are available for special elections.
  • It begins at least 28 days prior to a municipal general election.
  • Absentee voting can be done in person at the voter registration office or by mail 21 days prior to the election.
  • An absentee ballot application is required to vote by mail. Unlike in the past, no reason for absentee voting is required.
  • An application can be obtained by contacting the voter registration office or online at www.sos.georgia.gov  and can be mailed, faxed, or hand delivered to the registration office.
  • The absentee voting application is also located on the left side of the page.
  • Also, Saturday voting is now in effect for elections involving state or federal candidates. Saturday voting is available 2 Saturdays before the election from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the courthouse.
  • The last day to obtain an absentee ballot is the Friday before the election. No ballots are issued on the Monday prior to the election.

The voter must provide the following to receive a card:

  • A photo identity document  or approved non-photo identity document that includes full legal name and date of birth;
  • Documentation showing the voter’s date of birth
  • Evidence that the applicant is a registered Georgia voter; and
  • Documentation showing the applicant’s name and residential address.

  • A Georgia driver’s license, even if expired
  • A valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including one issued by the Department Services or your county registrar’s office.
  • Valid U.S. passport
  • Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority, or other entity of this state.
  • Valid U.S. Military photo ID
  • Valid tribal photo ID

If you do not have one of these acceptable forms of ID, a Georgia Voter Identification card is available FREE of charge in the county registrar’s office or the Department of Driver Services office

You Must be:

  • A resident of the county in which you are registering
  • 17 1/2 year of age and 18 to vote
  • A citizen of the United States

You may NOT register if you:

  • Have been convicted of a felony and you are currently serving your sentence, this includes any fines and probation.
  • Have been declared mentally incompetent by a judge.

** Warning:  Any person who registers to vote knowing that such person does not possess the qualifications required by law, who registers under any name other than such person’s own name, or who knowingly gives false information in registering shall be guilty of a felony.  O.C.G.A. 21-2-561
